You came from me....

Time flies.............. Today my baby, oops , my little boy is 18 months old. A Year and a half!!

Right before my eyes from a little baby, he is becoming a little boy. Every day something new is happening. I remember holding this tiny bundle in my arms with amazement.
'You came from me', I kept thinking to myself, wondering how that was even possible.

Then the days passed and he became a bit bigger, his features more defined and the amazement grew,
'You came from me', the thought seemed  more absurd.

He started eating food, crawling around. His dependence on me grew less but I still thought with amazement,
'You came from me.'

As the months rolled on, his father and I would walk in the room and his face would light up letting us know he knew we were his. He raised his arms to us and would squeal with happiness when we would pick him up. Will he ever know that it gave us far more happiness to be able to hold him? His need for us grew but our need for him grew more. After all,
'You came from us.'

Today, he lets me know what he wants, he demands for it! With his yet limited verbal skills, I can understand him better than anyone else in the world. He wakes me up in the morning to let me know he's ready to play. He comes to me when he's hungry, sleepy or upset and it amazes me each time how grown up he is, yet there are a million more milestones for him to achieve. He knows his world revolves around me, does he know my world doesn't just revolve around him, it doesn't exist without him. If I am his sun, he is my oxygen, there is no me without him. And as I am writing this, he's climbed into my lap to demand to watch Sesame Street on the computer. And this little gesture of holding him in my lap makes my heart fuller. As quickly as these 18 months have passed, the next 18 years will pass and he won't need me, as much. But that will be good because no matter how big he is and where he is, I will always know with great pride that,
'You came from me.'
